Janapar Trail - Karmir Shuka to Avetaranots is a 10.4 mile moderately trafficked point-to-point trail that features beautiful wild flowers. The trail is rated as moderate offers a number of activity options.
From Karmir Shuka to the massive 2,000 year old plane tree, and on to Avetaranots village with a minor palace ruins. Starting in the busy town of Karmir Shuka (Red Market) you head up the hill to a huge 2,000 year old Plane tree. With 44 square meters (500 square feet) of hollow inside, it's big enough to make a little home. From here you hike down to the highway, head up to the Avetaranots (Chanakhchi) turnoff, and head west. You'll pass a nice little waterfall and during mulberry season, a little mulberry vodka (tuti oghi) distillery. You end up in the village of Avetaranots, with a historic Melik's house (or "palace") an old bridge, and other sites.
