A bit rocky initially. Wonderful tall rock outcroppings, and a pleasant view at Raven Rock. I liked parking at the front, taking Scott Run (which is one of my favorite trails in the park), over the McCollum Trail, hiking out to Raven Rock, and then taking the easy roadside trail back into the front parking lot. It made a nice ~~ 7 mile loop.
Beautiful hike to a great overlook. I went on Memorial Day weekend (Sunday) early in the morning. The trails are marked well, there is also trail heads and mi markers along some of the way. Easy hike along the roadside trail up to the overlook. Print off the map included on All Trails as it was a great guide to take some of the other trails in the park. Go early and sit and enjoy the view from the rocks!
The state park was closed to driving in the winter-Jan so we parked and hiked the 2 miles to the trail head using the road side trail. The hike is not terribly tough with some gradual elevation change. The views are very nice for WV with a panoramic view of the gorge. The power lines do detract a little from the experience but definitely worth hiking if nearby.
