One of my favorite spots on the Palouse. Kamiak offers a nice picnic area (with bathroom) and then a decent trail through woods and up to great views along the top of the ridge. There are some lesser-used trails that allow you to wander some of the lower areas of the park as well, which are nice when the sun is high. In the summer the park often offers different "campfire conversations" that bring local history and nature buffs in for free presentations.
A gorgeous little trail less than 20 minutes from Pullman.
I personally prefer taking the primitive trail to the summit on the way up, and the main trail down to the first parking lot on the way down. The primitive trail gives some wonderful views of the Palouse on the way up, and is significantly less-traveled than the main trail. (although it can be a little steep and slippery, especially if it's icy or snowy). The walk along the ridge offers some great views during clear days, and is mysterious and lovely on foggy days.
Not a very long hike, but when you're itching to get out of town for a few hours, but can't go far, this is perfect!

Quick, mid level, definitely awesome for friends or dates!
