Kim O. on Canal Park Trail
Trail isn't in Pratt Park. As stated before it is actually 2 trails that make a 3.4 mile loop. Can be busy depending on the time of day you use it. Watch the bicyclists as they make wide turns when crossing bridges and entering the trail and they give no warning they are behind and passing you.
This is actually two trails connected to make a loop trail. It is the Canal Path trail and Heritage trail combined to make a 3.4 mile paved trail. You can park down near the river and go west along the river, the heritage trail connects with Canal Path trail just under the bridge under Fall Hill Ave. Back at the end of the trail you cross two fairly busy streets to get back to the river.
Easy paved walking path through downtown Fredericksburg. For anyone bringing pets or small children, most of the path is not shaded by trees and there are a few foot bridges made of synthetic materials that looked like they got very hot (too hot for a dog's paws).
Great trail for an every day kind of walk. Lots of paved area and this trail swings past the Rappahannock River and through down town Fredericksburg. Nice scenery and great history as well. The City is creating a bridge for easier access across Fall Hill Ave to extend the path and there are plenty of little animals down by the river to look at. This is a great trail for all seasons.
Meriwether B. on Canal Park Trail
This is a shady, paved and pleasant trail in along the river, which makes it nearly ideal. One must cross a road, which is the only interruption, but because it is located in a busy, historic area of Virginia, it's a minor price to pay.
