First time on this trail. Started at Y Mountain parking lot. Did not track mileage but 6 miles each way seemed right. I would rate as harder than Timp via the Timpanooke route. The last couple miles are somewhat brutal but doable. Stairclimber from Hades is a proper description. But.....The view is definitely worth it!!!! Did not find a survey marker defining summit; not sure on that.
Hiking poles are a must unless you have young knees, especially going down. Trail is easy enough to see, just need to keep eyes open on the mountain going up. Got lucky with early-mid November weather, was gorgeous. Bottom line, all the pain and discomfort were so worth it!!!! We can do hard things!!

Took the family up to do this hike over the weekend but did it as a loop... up to Clyde Lake (2m), then over to where it connects with the Notch Mountain Trail (1m), then down the east side of Wall Lake (2.5m) for a total of 5.5 miles. The Clyde Lake side of this loop is *nowhere* near as "heavily trafficked" as the Notch Mountain Trail side (as you can tell by the trail conditions) but it was a nice easy route to follow with lakes everywhere!

Amazing hike. It was 4 miles climbing 850 feet. It had nice intervals of flat meadow, hillside climb & descending. Our 8 year old did really well with a few brief rests & snacks. The destination is the top of a ridge line surrounded by amazing views. Well marked trail and doggie friendly.

Good snowshoeing trail

Stunning views, honestly breathtaking. Not a well known trail- but it should be. One of my favorite hikes.

I enjoyed the views. I hiked up the trail, and ran down. I will definitely do this one again.

The best hike ever

Not a bad trail. Not too popular so the trail isn't packed. Lake is more of a pond but once you reach it it has a beautiful view of the mountain. Also plenty of elk.

Good little hike.

Great views. Fall colors are amazing. First mile or so was a little populated. Last 3/4 Mike is pretty steep. But panoramic views are worth it.

Walked around the lake and took some pictures. I was planning on getting the geocaches around the lake, but was talking too much and was only able to get one geocache at the very end.
It’s a nice easy walk. The fall leaves looked colorful.

Nothing special. Not even sure we made it to "Red Lake"

This was a great hike and a good workout! Consistent climb all the way to the top, a bit rocky with a little creek along the trail. Great scenery of the fall colors on the trees. Silver Lake is undergoing some construction as well as Tibble Fork.

This was a short little hike, but full of fall colors and beautiful scenery all around!

If you are a human that enjoys trudging through horse manure, you may enjoy this one. I personally believe this trail should be renamed to "Horse Shit Highway". Seriously good views to be had, but just drive up to the silver lake trailhead instead.

Beautiful views, we went around 3pm and comeback around 6.30pm with 2 kids 12 and 9; The clouds trick us. So we comeback quickly and when we arrived at the gate was sunny again. Next time we will go early to expend more time at the lake.

Fun hike with some good views. Took me about 3.5 hours round trip. Pretty flat till the peak.
