I run this paved path on a regular basis from the Dairy Ashford entrance. When the flood waters get high, it does get muddy, especially the further east you go. If you go west from Dairy Ashford, the elevation stays high enough that you don't have to worry about the water or mud as much. The path doesn't get too packed, though sometimes between bikers, runners, and walkers, this place reminds you that you're in the middle of the city. However, once you get away from the main roads, and especially down by the water (Buffalo Bayou), the road noise dies away enough that you can imagine that you're not in the city anymore. Great walk, but does *not* feel like a "trail".

Wonderful because there are so many places to stop for water along the way!!
I recommend parking off of Eldridge so that you can tailor the route length to your liking.
