This park has a trail around the field or you can hike up into the area to the cross continuing around a canal getting a really good hour of walking in. You can get hot here in the summer though so bring water. It allows dogs and there is a pond nearby for your dog to get a drink and a little River canal across field by the bbq pits. Overall one nice park to hike in.
Cross Hill trail is a wonderful little trail that leads from the pool parking lot in Castroville Regional Park up to the cross on Mt. Gentilz, which overlooks the city of Castroville and the Medina Valley. This trail is one of 13 interconnecting trails which have an overall length of about four miles. The scenery is great, the birds and wildlife are abundant, and in the spring, this mountainside fills up with wildflowers. There are several sets of stairs, so strollers are not recommended. Also, there is a bench halfway up the mountain to rest and take in the view. Don't forget to grab a trail brochure at the trail head, it contains a lot of helpful information.
