This was a great place to hike with our family. We have a 4 and 1 year old who loved it. My 72 year old mother also came and greatly enjoyed it. We went on the short trails - pond and prairie & creek trail that had a old homestead house that the boys loved playing in. Carry lots of water and bring sunscreen and bug repellent.
This is not an out an back. the map clearly shows you can do the loop. But it is very short. We did all three trails and still only logged a few miles. Not sure if I'd really recommend Vista Knoll Trail.. but you should definitely take Ridgeline Trail (out and back) to the end to see the view from the kiosk there! (forgot the actual name of the kiosk) Ridgeline can be a little challenging but definitely worth it!
Tye P. on Rim Rock Loop Trail
Great trail but a bit overgrown in the lower parts. I took 4 kids ranging from 6-12 and all made it great. The great at the end is superb. Very quick hike at just less than an hour with a few stops. Two very good views.
These trails were a pleasant surprise! It was about 85% shaded trails with some slight elevation and interesting rock formations. The only wildlife I saw/heard were hundreds of cicadas. I did see several areas of fresh hog rooting(s), but heard nary any oink. This was well worth the drive from Georgetown.
Great trail, nice views, signage could be better, not heavily trafficked. There are restrooms at trailhead. Cell service is non-existent on parts of the trail. There are some short easy trails near the trailhead but the longer loops are definitely not easy; moderate intensity with creek crossings, somewhat steep inclines, and narrow trails.
