One of my favorite waterfall trails. I took the longer five mile round trip from Hampton TN and Rt. 321 (as opposed to the route in from Dennis Cove Road). It is much easier to get to this trailhead. The trail follows the scenic Laurel Fork for most of the way to the falls, with much of it on the Appalachian Trail. I had the added benefit of hiking earlier this year on a beautiful April day with lots of blooming wildflowers. There are a few rocky spots, but nothing too difficult. And the falls itself is stunning...and a spectacular place to take a lunch break!

This is such a great day hike!!
If you are looking for a moderately easy waterfall hike near the Tri-Cities, I couldn't think of a better one then Laurel Falls! It's fairly easy to get to and well worth the effort, however I've always seen a lot of people here at this one so if you are looking for something that doesn't have a lot of foot traffic this one might not be for you.
I took my 10 year old and my 14 year old on this hike from the Hampton entrance. It was an easy walk until the last half mile or so. We followed the signs for the Falls and it took us over some very rocky terrain, including some slippery rocks overhanging the water. The kids loved it, because it felt more adventurous than a typical walk in the woods. The Falls themselves were glorious, very secluded (we were there on a Friday morning), and as my 10 year old said, "totally worth it!" We left by climbing straight up the rock steps toward the Laurel Fork shelter, but we all decided it seemed longer and much more exhausting than our original path. Overall, a great hike!
