fairly easy trail, a little rocky in some spots. Very dense and woody, which is nice, but the few miles we went, weren't very scenic. Might try the other unmarked entrance next time.

Really awesome. Hiked to Leroy Smith Shelter. Weather was chilly. Saw bear tracks in the snow. Had a great 7 mile hike.

I agree with Tom-
My buddy and I got lost few years ago because the markers just ended.
Hot summer day and had to take the fire road down to bottom of 191.
Thank god for Willie ..an old man who lives across street from fire road ....he filled our water bottles and we hoped into the back of his pick-up truck....and he drove us up 191 to get back on trail.
Got to the shelter late evening....and completed our adventure the next day!

The trail from Smith gap towards little gap is good however when doing each end as a loop the Southanne going north is problematic. The trail begins well but at 1 1/4 miles becomes a boundary and the true AT trail diminishes. I consider myself good at following the markers however the trail is overgrown and problematic. I do not consider this self a good thing on the a T and would recommend taking the southside trail from the road through the cleanup site to Lehigh gap.certainly if you are attempting this trail as exercise you cannot do it with any deliberate pace both because of the boulders and because of the portrayal markings.

Great hike. Rocks are slippery but just have to watch. Always great to meet new hikers along the way

Nice hike through the mountains. Need to watch footing because of walking on rocks.

To much cover to see anything. It looks long and monotone with really too few points of vue. Still a good exercise.
