Rick L. on Stewart State Forest Trail
Good mt biking workout, miles of trails, maps available from local bike shops, watch for poison ivy and ticks.
This is a nice place to ride but the problem is that there are almost no maps, nothing marked and it can get very confusing and you can easily get turned around in the forest. This is also not a "site seeing" hike so if you're into views or vistas this isn't the place for you but it is a nice place to trail run, or bike or ride a horse. Would be better if there were marked trails or a definitive map though. Just not easy to navigate here.
Steve S. on The Holy Land
This is more than just the trail(s) listed here. It is Stewart Forest, which has oodles of old roads, fire roads, and single track trails. Since no motor vehicles are allowed, it allows plenty of peace and quiet too. Nice to hike, but it's a big place. Mountain bikes are the way to go.
Traveling, you can stay at the Comfort Inn in Newburgh, and even rent bikes at Dark Horse cycles on Rt 17k.
You gotta go here!
