This is a very Romantic walk and trail to take your significant other too. Especially with fall on it's way and the leaves are changing colors. It is so beautiful. I highly recommend this trail to anyone. it is a very easy trail with amazing views of the Hudson River. I will continue going there because of the beauty of the trail. No garbage was on the trail either. It is very well maintained. Had an amazing hike today!
The first place I ever hiked after moving to the Hudson Valley so it holds a special place in my heart! It's a super mellow hike, mostly in open air, a bit through some woods. The view of the Catskills and the Kingston-Rhinecliff bridge is really beautiful. There are also lots of places to sit down and read a book. It definitely lives up to its name for me.
A really lovely walk. Reminded me of being inside one of Renoir's paintings! The grass over the hills is well~manicured and cut symmetrically and the wooden entryway smells of fresh rose tea. The walk to the summer house is shaded by trees, which is much appreciated when the sun is at it's highest point scorching down on the open fields of the flag pole trail. The trails meet up to a nice overlook area of the Hudson river. This would make a good picnic spot during cooler times.
Poet's Walk is a beautiful, well-manicured walk next to the Hudson. The landscape is open grassy meadow for the most part, except for woodland towards the end of the loop. There are several cedar pavilions, and benches dotted around. There is also a small footbridge. The terrain is flat for the most part and during the Summer months you will see other people; in particular, on the weekends. It's really not a hike, but a wonderful place for an quick afternoon stroll with a friend, relative or pet to enjoy a peaceful and picturesque view of the Hudson river and surrounding Catskills mountains. For a more challenging hike along the Hudson which is relatively close by try Norrie Point in Staatsburg.
