One of my familys all time favorite places to hike. Letchworth Park is large and beautiful with stunning views of numerous falls and lovely river gorge. There are many trails in this park and a wonderful place to camp, take a hot air balloon ride, geocache, hike, cross country ski, white water raft... etc.
My girlfriend and I did the white water rafting at Letchworth. It starts from near the Lower Falls and goes to St. Helena's. I was totally at ah just viewing the Gorge from another way. If you ever get a chance to do this. I say do it. Go to Adventure-Call Outfitters website; they are the ones that do this there.
There are many wonderful trails in Letchworth State Park. You can hike the developed side on well defined walking paths that will give you many opportunities to stop and appreciate the spectacular cliff that are up to 500 ft above the Genesee River. Also you have the chance to get a close up view of Upper and Middle Falls. Stop at the Glen Iris Inn near Middle Falls to learn a little about the Victorian History of the park. Also don't miss the traditional Iroquois Long House, look for signs to direct you. For the more adventurous, you can get a view across the park and down over upper and middle falls from the railroad trestle. But keep your ears open because it is an acitive railroad!
