Northwood Meadows State Park spans 674.5 acres in a wilderness setting. This wooded park has a vast wetlands area and is excellent for nature walks and picnicking. The park includes a pond created by a dammed brook - a popular place for fishing and non-motorized boating. The easily accessible trails also make the park an ideal place for biking, hiking, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing.
Very easy little walk in the woods with great views of the pond that the trails encompass. Very dog friendly trail; on an average day, half the people walking the trails are walking their dogs. Clean trails that aren't very well marked, yet the trails are easy enough to follow that it shouldn't be a problem. Even though the park is right next to route 4, there isn't any noise from the highway, and the trail traffic isn't too high. I'd say if you're in the area and looking for a quick, quiet, little get away, it's worth a stop.
This is a nice quiet trail that loops around a pond, offering many scenic views. Great walk in all weather conditions and seasons. You can also access The Saddleback Mountain trail which is an out and back hike to one of highest points in Northwood. This is a dog friendly trail. Currently there is some logging between the meadows trail and the Saddleback trail. Happy hiking!
