I had so much fun exploring the Tahoe Meadows area on a gorgeous December afternoon. And I could not have picked a better location to go snowshoeing for my first time. After a beautiful trek through the woods, we ended up with an amazing view of Lake Tahoe from Chickadee Ridge. We also stopped to feed the chickadees along the way...what a memorable experience!
Stunning views, easy walk down, fun climbing around the mini boulders surrounding the shore, and best of all, the water was cool not ice cold.
However, there were A LOT of people there around midday, and it was blazing hot out - my mistake, of course.
Climb back up was a bit grueling because it was steep, but ok altogether.

Amazing short hike! Like the other reviewers mentioned, the first part is steep. You head down a hill, which means you'll be walking back up it. It's short and not bad at all. If you want an easy trek because you have 30 kids in tow, go to Sand Harbor. Also, there was an easy creek crossing shortly after the steeper section. There are amazing views of Lake Tahoe since you're so close to the shore. When it comes to beaches, there seems to be something for everyone. Yes, there is a clothing optional area, as well. Bring a towel to avoid rock rash. Parking can be tricky!
Kinda steep early on from the parking area but once down near the lake it's very easy and beautiful views of the lake. Multiple beaches accessible from this hike. Just be aware at this beach and south that there are clothing optional areas. Stay north as you hike and you will most likely be able to avoid this.
Great hike, we started at the parking lot South to sand harbor. The trail is a bit steep on the way down, but then along the lake it's a pretty easy hike. Gorgeous secret beaches with amazing boulders and turquoise wster. Feels very private and serene. I'd really reccomend this trail. The only difficult part was the way up to the parking, may not be suitable to very young kids, but can be done with more stops. It's worth it!!
