Buddy M. on Circling Mackinac Island
You can't find a better place to go on a bike in the entire U.S. in my opinion. The island scenery combined with the nice mostly flat bike trail is unmatched. Very wonderful trail for those that aren't pro's or a little out of shape.
Lovely ride around the island. We arrived early. Most people were heading to the east, we headed west. Few riders on the west side of the island to start, made for quiet time along the shoreline. We stopped numerous times to experience the views and put our feet in the waters. The ride was easy. Fun touring the inner trails too.
The circle tour is very easy and a nice ride, and you can stop at any of the beaches and explore or swim. If you get into the interior there are some wonderful trails in the hilly terrain. The island can get very busy during the summer, and if you get away from the the fudge shops and explore, it can be a wonderful experience.
We rented bikes and drove this trail for mothers day. Even this early in the year you will eat flies as you bike. It was also F R E E Z I N G. The island is a lot colder than the mainland for obvious reasons. The bugs were absolutely irritating but the ride was lovely and the scenery was great. Please check your bike before you take off. My seat kept SLOWLY sinking which was also obnoxious!!! There is a little ice cream / hot chocolate place to stop and visit, and a few cross-cutting roads to try if you have the energy.

This was a terrific entry ride for our 6 and 8 year olds to introduce them to biking on trails. Paved and marked, it is a super flat ride with many reasons to stop and see things along the way. Each sight is small and walk able, which was a nice break for the short attention spans of the kids. This is a definite!
