This is a fantastic trail. We hiked 2.58 miles and spent a few hours on the various trails, rock formations, and boulders. It's fun for all ages and if you walk slowly through the pine grove near the Butterfly Garden you can spot a few flying around. It's not a hard trail by any means but it's a good scenic batch of trails.
A wonderful place to spend a day. The trails get steep in places but worth it. There are some beautiful rock formations that were used as shelters at one time for the Natives that called this area home. There is a small "Trailside Museum" overlooking Carter Pond with a visitors book to sign and a great view over the pond.
This is one of my favorite places to go for a day hike and lunch in the woods.
The ride down Route 9 is worth the trip alone, especially in the fall. Be sure to bring a camera. There's a small pond at the trail with great photo ops. It's a perfect hike for dogs, too. It's not a very long trail so be sure to have other plans in mind when you're done.
