Nestled in the north Georgia mountains just two miles from the Alpine village of Helen, Unicoi is one of Georgias most beloved state parks. Throughout the year, the park offers outstanding programs which focus on natural, cultural, historical and recreational resources. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy hiking and biking on scenic mountain trails, especially those leading to Helen and Anna Ruby Falls. Craft lovers should not miss the lodge gift shop specializing in hand-made quilts and local pottery. Numerous picnic tables are located throughout the park.
This is an overcrowded, short 0.4 mile walk on a paved pathway to an overcrowded platform beneath 2 beautiful waterfalls. They are a wonder of beauty, yes... But it's a 10 minute drive on a curvy, slow going road and $3 per person (over 15 yrs old) to enter. This would be a good introductory hike for a family with youngsters.
Short hike, seems longer because of the steep climb up. Very crowded on the weekends. We arrive Saturday at 11 am and the parking lot was halfway full. By the time we left overflow parking was open. People of all ages, shapes and sizes were on the trail. Everyone was cautious and considerate. Dogs should not be allowed on the weekend because of the crowds.

Lovely waterfall!! Nice observation deck at the start of the trail, cute gift shop and clean restroom facilities also. The trail to the falls is paved but relatively steep. It is a short trail, however. Not really any protective railings for children (saw a lot of parents that really should pay more attention to their young kids). Saw a copperhead snake on the trail as well so be careful :)
Have fun and enjoy!!
Fairly easy hike. Great view.
I stayed at Unicoi for a week and tried out the trail with two of my kids. I normally rode bike but this was a complete different beast. it was great and look forward to riding trails. I'm going to go back next week and do the 8 miles at least once a day.
