great for the kids

More of an afternoon stroll. Perfect for young kids (age 3 or younger). But, if you are an avid hiker, not so much.

Great place for a short walk

Very nice and easy trail!

Very well maintained. Trails are marked but would have liked to see a few more guide signs, as I felt a little unsure which path to take a few times. Animal, kid and stroller friendly. Lots of sights to see as well as running streams. Lots of seating throughout and plenty of places to have a picnic.

Autrey Mill Nature Preserve is a delightful gem of 46 acres of mature ravine forest, located in the northern Fulton County suburb of Johns Creek.

Along with a trail network that covers 2 miles, Autrey Mill has a Heritage Village depicting the area's rural history from the mid 1800s to the mid 1900s. Four historical buildings were original to the site; the others were moved in from surrounding properties. Sadly, Autrey Mill is not one of them, as it no longer exists. Just the mill's foundation stones remain. There is also a Visitor Center that houses animal exhibits and dioramas. Restrooms and picnic pavilions are available on site. The grounds are open every day from 8am to dusk. However, check Autrey Mill's official website for more information concerning Visitor Center hours, building tours, and special events. There is no admission charge to the grounds.

The trails are soft, secluded, and well-maintained. Depending on the trail choice, I can get a good cardiac workout in a short amount of time. Visitors to the preserve are usually dog walkers of various ages and families with young children. On weekdays, you may have the grounds to yourself, but expect higher usage during weekends and special events.
