First off, directions are incorrect! If coming from Frisco, stay on the main road you were traveling on from Frisco and travel approx. another 1 1/2 to 2 miles toward Breckenridge. It'll be on the right and there is a parking lot and signage at the trail head. Logging throughout approx. three miles we hiked up the trail. Not sure where the 1.4 miles came from in the trail summary? Even the trail head sign appears to be inaccurate... We hiked 3+ miles and never made it off the Gold trail???Was hoping to see what it looked like at the end of the trail as was supposed to be a spectacular view... We started later in the day, so darkness was closing in and was a bit of an eerie feeling up there so close to dark. If the mileages had been accurate, would have planned accordingly. Obviously, the logging is necessary, but feels like it's after a nuclear bombing with dead trees everywhere. Makes you feel a little melancholy. I gave it two stars bcuz I feel any hike in nature was worth it. Probably would be a stretch for most for it to warrant two stars. If you are trying to hit every hike in Colorado, then hike it so you can mark it off your list, if not definitely try any other trail...

This trail was an in the trees trail, with no look outs or views besides what could be seen from the road at the beginning of the trail. The entire trail was lined with down trees. It resembled a logging road. The trees were only being logged right alongside the trail.
