Hit the trail at Lory State Park and enjoy mountain biking, hiking and horseback riding amid some fabulous foothills scenery just minutes from Fort Collins and adjacent to Horsetooth Reservoir. From rolling valleys to mountainous hillsides, Lory State Park's 20 miles of trails rarely exceed a 12 percent grade. The variety of trails is great for short or long hikes, mountain bike rides, horseback rides and jogs. Backcountry camping is also available for visitors looking for a quiet getaway close to suburban Fort Collins .
This was my first "real" hike in the area. Nice scenery along the way with a great view of the reservoir and Fort Collins at the top. Might be somewhat challenging on the way up depending on fitness level but overall a pretty comfortable hike. There's a few different rock formations after the scramble to the top. Go to the right for the best views.

Great short hike
Took my wife and teenage sons to try this trail. Everyone loved it. Moderate elevation change, my wife and I aren't the fittest, and there were some tired legs. The views of Fort Collins and Horsetooth Reservoir were fantastic with some great photo opportunities. We'll definitely hike it again!
This is one of those basic hikes which should really make someone curious about hiking. The total 3.7 mile round-trip distance can be covered in under 1hr 30min with generous time at the top. The views from the top are decent. An extremely easy 5 min scramble at the end with pretty average trail throughout. Over all this is a very easy hike suitable for evening stroll. The park closes at 9pm so venturing for the hike after 7.00 pm should be slightly unwise given that you won't make it till 9.00.

Great hike, not too steep and great view of horsetooth from the top
Great short hike. Took us about 2 hours roundtrip with a 15 minute stop at the top. Very constant incline all the way up with the hardest part last. Nothing difficult, but a good thigh burner. Great views of Horsetooth Reservoir. Unfortunately, doesn't give views of any of the western peaks. Lots of amazing trails all around for running or biking too! Excellent trail marking and maintenence, no maps needed.
