Very rocky with the trail hard to find at some points. Would recommend taking a left to start the loop.

Great trail for hiking with our dog. Trails are well marked. Mileage for loop overall elevation gain matched up fairly close to fitness tracker used.

Pretty views up top! Lots of rocks and scrambling. Make sure to bring plenty of water; it is straight up!

We hiked it clockwise as we prefer to go up the more steep route and come down the easier route. The Amphitheater trail is quite steep and a lung burner. There is one point on the trail where the trail was washed out several years ago and they have installed a metal ladder that you need to climb. So going this route is probably not good if you have dogs with you. I don't think they could scramble up this one area. It took us 3 hours for the loop and the gps indicated we went 6.3 miles. Our fitbits showed approximately 250 flights of stairs or roughly 2500 feet elevation gain.

Nice loop hike, can be started from Gregory Canyon our Chautauqua. I took the Amphitheatre trail from Gregory Canyon which is about a Mike shorter because there was no parking at Chautauqua.
Nice hike, demanding, nice break about 2/3 of the way then demanding again.
Crowded at the top, kind of surprising for a Tuesday afternoon on November.

The multiple road crossings at the beginning was unfortunate, but we took this to Ute to Gregory Canyon. It was always pretty and was a fun hike. Parking was limited at the first trailhead so go early or plan to park farther along the trail.

Great trails!! Love hiking here!!

Really great hike! Have to scamper up some rocks but I loved that!

Beautiful but so overcrowded. Not worth it if you are looking to enjoy a quite hike

Quite short and easy, barely saw anyone till we got to the top!

I love the climb in this trail!

Rock climbing, scrambling, lots of boulders going down.
