Lizeth L. on Fryman Canyon Trail
It's a beautiful view all around. The hike is pretty moderate and a good balance between elevations and down hills, which make it doable.
Gorgeous trail in the middle of the city that feels secluded. Clean bathrooms, water fountains, and benches up on the tree people side of the loop. By far my favorite hike in LA for catching up with friends and talking while you get a serious butt workout.
I like how quick this loop feels. If you start at Betty Dearing Park and head west up the hill, you get a steady incline up a fire road for good stretch of the hike. Towards the end there's a nice long "cool down" stretch of paved road with plenty of shade in a really sweet, quiet neighborhood.
