This site is used by local Native Americans as a ceremonial meeting place. The park features special events and tours. Gathering Day, held the third Saturday of October, includes demonstrations of dancing, crafts and basket weaving.
Very easy trail with pedestrian and horse routes. We only made it maybe 3/4 of a mile before turning back because stickers kept getting in my dog's paws, though. It was quite pretty with plenty of places to sit and have a picnic. If I lived in the area I'd definitely make more use of it! Just without the pup.
This is a nice regional park near Ahwahnee Calif. Though it is listed as wheelchair friendly, only a portion of the loop is ADA compliant. There is handicap parking at the main parking area and near the lake. The south portion of the loop is mostly open meadow with some beautiful old oak trees, and mostly flat terrain. On the north portion there is some climbing, but most people can easily handle it. At the upper end there are several view points with nice views of the valley. My wife and I like to do this trail when we feel like an easy, laid back hike that doesn't require a long drive to other, more senic trails in the area.
