if you are looking for a great workout and a spectacular view at top. just know that there are no dirt trails or wilderness surrounding. you have mostly narrow paved paths right next to street traffic with cars. people on hiking reviews will try and show off and say its easy. trust me this is not easy and an excellent workout.
The loop is through a residential area of Signal Hill, CA. I've always found plenty of street parking at Redondo and Hill St. There are several hills on the loop, making the course challenging and an excellent leg workout. There are a few off beat gravel patches that lead you behind people's backyard. Lots of people of all fitness levels come for the breathtaking aerial view of Long Beach. There are exercise stations and water fountains along the loop. Limited shade and pet friendly.
I love walking this hill! Once you get past the initial steep incline, which will get your heart pumping, you'll come across a small workout area. Get some push ups and sit ups in, do some stretches, or take in the scenery which overlooks a park and the city (you can see CSLB from here). As you continue upward you'll pass through a nice, calm residential area full of friendly fellow hikers, depending on the time of day (around 5-6pm seems to be the busiest). Once you reach the top you'll find an amazing view of the city that seems endless and a nice little park at the top to take a breather before heading back down.
