Nice, easy trail but a little muddy right now by the second mile due to all the rain and melting snow. Bring towels if you have a dog. Saw a few other hikers with dogs, a handful of joggers, and one or two bikes but the trail is wide enough that there is no issue. It is amazing to me that the miners were able to keep the flume sloping down so evenly. You would never know the canal is sloping down except for the water gently flowing along. The parking lot on Gracie holds 8-10 cars but there is a open area at the corner of Gracie and Banner you can use if you get there later in the day. Banner Lava Cap Rd does not have an exit off Hwy49 so get off on Brunswick and go east to the second left, Old Tunnel Rd. It will take you up to Banner and just take a right.Gracie is a couple of miles down on the left.

A nice hike love the view wild life all around a good place for the family

Nice flat trail. Great for kids and dogs. Shady

Trail starts on the edge of Town (Nevada City) and follows along the Deer Creek. Good bird watching.
