Quick scenic paved trail. Good to bike or walk/run. Always has lots of people and a speed limit so be prepared. Trail is out and back. Cute snack shop in the park if you need anything or decide to rent boats afterward. Most popular around sunset when it is finally cool.
It's a little piece of nature heaven in a densely populated Southern California city. Of course there are people everywhere, but you're walking around a big body of water, so there are trees, little chipmunks, and all kinds of birds. When I was there today, there was is huge Bald Eagle nest atop some power lines. There was the mom and dad and I think baby chicks, but I couldn't see them--that was super rad.
It's about seven miles from the parking lot, around the lake to the very end(gate), then back to the parking lot. It's paved, so super easy and very little to no incline.
Great paved trail for walking/jogging. Lots of bicyclists. There are plenty of bathrooms but they are port-o-potty's and don't seem to be cleaned out very often (filled to the brim on Friday's mid-day, Wednesday afternoon. Maybe there's a cleaning schedule but it's not frequently enough.) I have never seen a single water fountain on this trail, so bring plenty of water!
Tons of dog watching! :)
