Short lakeside trail with very light use. This trail offers nice views of Lake Maumelle. It is short, but has potential to offer nice hiking close to Little Rock. Trail also has a variety of wildflowers along the trail and offers birdwatching opportunities. The park at the trailhead, Loon Park, is not used heavily but fisherman are often seen at the park.
Solitude is the norm on this little trail. There is a nice parking area at the trailhead just off of Hwy 10. The first 0.2-miles of trail is paved and seems a bit unkept and unused. This trail has apparently been there for quite a while. I don't know if the wildflowers were planted, or if they grew naturally, but the paved path has tons of impressive wildflowers on both sides of the wide path. At the end of the paved path, the path continues another 0.3-miles to an observation deck at a point on the lake. Signage at the deck indicates that deck was built by the Audubon Society of Central Arkansas.
I've never seen anyone else on this trail. So if you are looking for solitude, this is a nice little trail. And there is much potential for the trail to be continued along the lakeside.
