Campground is a bit difficult to find, you have to keep going down highway 123 longer than the gps says to in order to find it. Rating would have been higher, but park isn't maintained very well and isn't monitored. We had some very unpleasant neighbors last night who were shooting pretty much constantly in the river gorge, long past dark. Didn't hike the whole falls because we were worried for our safety. Water level was down as well, but that's only because there hasn't been rain recently. May go back someday and hope for more agreeable campmates.
Not so much a trial as a great place to drive to and view a small waterfall. Maybe 6' of drop, but pretty. A lot of people will more then likely be at this one.
Beware, if the area has had heavy rain, you will more then likely not be able to cross into the 'park/camping area'. The road is a water crossing!
We hiked this today with our kids (6,3, &1 yrs old). Trail leaves from back of campground and is pretty much just head up the creek. Kids did good with plenty of supervision and going slowly..be prepared to zig zag back and forth across creek a few times..some slick rocks and mud.
Hiked into the Haw Creek Falls Campground via the Ozark Highlands Trail. Enjoyed playing in the water with the dogs and resting a bit before heading on down the OHT. While the summer has been wetter than usual, it had been about a week since a good long rain, so the water level was low. I'm sure it is much nicer just after rain when there is more water spilling over. I still thoroughly enjoyed this stop on our way.
