Great little hike - short enough to be good for kids. You also pass by a small treehouse (off the trail near the old miner's bath house) and a large treehouse with a rope bridge near the overlook. Great views. Pretty even in terms of elevation - nothing really steep. Beautiful overlook of Birmingham at the end of the trail.
Hubby and I visited this place a few weeks ago. The location is strange, we thought or gps was wrong because the parking lot is in an industrial park. It's also called Red Mountain Park. The history that goes with this site is very interesting (iron ore mine's, late 1800's). They are in the process of many upgrades but the ziplines we're in order and watched a few folks having fun. The trails were fun, hubby and I are middle age our of shape so we broke a sweat on this trail. Several others totaling 13 miles. Paths were clear and marked. Some rugged terrain. Can't wait to go back and yet the other trails! ! Definitely worthy checking out more than once.
